Small bench of carved wood in the form of a turtle from a haus tambaran (men's ceremonial spirit-house). 20th century, Middle Sepik River, New Guinea. L 74.00 cm. W 25.00 cm. H 15.00 cm. Acquired: Cannes, France.

Note. The narrow head with projecting snout suggests the New Guinea snapping turtle, Elseya novaeguineae.
