Bronze water-dripper representing a bearded dragon-headed minogame (hair tailed turtle) with a smaller minogame on its back. 19th century, Japan. L 12.00 cms. Acquired: Kyoto, Japan.

Note. This artist ignores the tradition that the hair tail of the minogame is a sign of great age, since the much smaller, and so presumably much younger, turtle is also a minogame. One supposes that in this case the beard of the larger turtle was intended to indicate its venerable age.
